San Diego Insider Tours was founded by Jeannette De Wyze, whose family settled in San Diego more than 60 years ago. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Jeannette began working as a reporter in San Diego in 1974. In the course of her journalistic career, she has raced with hot-air balloonists, searched for ancient fossils with local paleontologists, interviewed some of San Diego’s most infamous murderers, petted baby gray whales in their Mexican calving grounds, chanted with the Hare Krishnas, grilled politicians, foraged for wild edibles and much, much more.

At the same time, she has traveled extensively, seeking out extraordinary guides in locations ranging from Paris to Peru, Japan to Jordan.

In 2006, inspired by the example of industry leader Rockwood Adventures in Vancouver, she developed a vision for providing San Diego visitors with similarly sophisticated experiences. Jeannette has been certified by the San Diego Professional Tour Guide Association.
