Peace, love, and poochies

Brando ready for Woofstock editedCat lovers may yawn, but one of San Diego’s more irresistible doggy events takes place this Saturday, April 13, at the corner of Park Boulevard and President’s Way in Balboa Park. Woofstock 2010 starts with a fun walk from 9 to 10 a.m., and the rest of the day (till 3 p.m.) promises to be a nonstop orgy of dog-watching opportunities.  As in prior years, there will be ongoing demonstrations of Flyball, which, as canine spectator sports go, ranks near the top. Contests for “grooviest costume,” best trick, biggest paw, smallest paw, and longest tail should also be amusing.  And a silent auction and more than 60 booths selling dog-themed products will allow the most indulgent pet owners to shop till they drop.

It all benefits the Canine Companions for Independence organization, which trains dogs to assist folks with disabilities other than blindness.
