Legalizing Marijuana in Ocean Beach

Recent news reports have crowed about the increasing numbers of Americans who support legalization of marijuana — now 44%, according to Gallup’s most recent pollmarijuana. (From the late 1970s to the mid-1990s, the percentage had been stuck at about 25%.) But obviously the Gallup opinion-samplers didn’t ask too many Ocean Beach residents what they think.  According to a post today in the OB Blog, 83% of the 107 folks who responded to a question about this particular burning issue favored legalization.  Only 6% wanted to keep it illegal, and 6% responded that they were “too stoned to care.”

Ah, Ocean Beach, home to what surely must be San Diego’s oldest and most venerable head shop (The Black).  We would have expected no less from you!
